Oct. 17th, 2024 10:46 pmUNDER CONSTRUCTION BUT HAVE THE BASICS: I love plotty stories, Situationships both platonic and romantic, hurt/comfort, and nerdery (you're into 9th century Central Asian textiles or the care and feeding of moray eels? Put it in the story!). I don't mind smut but I do not love it. I like my characters at least a tiny bit intense/unhinged.
20 THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: requesting in hopes of the adventure-leading-to-Nemo-whump-leading-to-Nemonnax-Tension fic of my dreams. Make that man collapse and that other man feel a way about it. Bonus if they never act on it though because it's about the Repression it's about the Pining it's about the hideous moral ambiguity. Also about the fish tho, I love the sexual tension but I also really love the fish (angry ecological tirades extremely welcome.)
(Also I'm really sorry but I don't like any of the adaptations and I especially hate Nautilus with the fire of a thousand suns so would appreciate if you could stick to the book!)
CHANUR SERIES: hey isn't Pyanfar the most Character of all times and isn't it amazing when she inadvertently acquires a totally foreign to her form of love and loyalty from weird alien men? I really just want her doing more wrangling of her personal human and kif. Of maybe said human and kif trying to figure out what both being Her Men means for them. I read the series in one breath and was blown away by the sheer extent of its commitment to the question of how far you can really ever understand the Other and more of that would be great.
SENGOKU JIDAI RPF: Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his ascension from human shoerack to Great Unifier are a fascination of mine and I'm especially interested in his relationship with Nobunaga. Like here you are a peasant with a stick in 16th century Japan and this batshit terrifying warlord decides you've got potential and uplifts you into power and wealth and into his confidence, and then he dies by betrayal and you go a bit batshit yourself to avenge him and end up completing his life's work. It's chewy is all I'm saying. Bonus for digging into the Mitsuhide/Hideyoshi relationship also if you're into it, I'm not into Mitsuhide himself but he does present a neat contrast with Hideyoshi being a noble polished sort and there's I think a very interesting angle in the relationships they end up having with Nobunaga. Anyway if you're curious my Sengoku media of choice is Koei lol.
